Shared branch banking venture OneBanks hires Lloyds executive as its first CTO

OneBanks, the shared branch banking venture, has appointed Andy Willmot, Chief Digital Architect at Lloyds Banking Group, as its first Chief Technology Officer. Willmot will be responsible for developing and implementing technology strategy for OneBanks as it grows, rolling out more kiosks in high street locations which can be used to access accounts from all UK banks.

Willmot brings over 25 years’ financial technology experience to OneBanks. He joins from Lloyds Banking Group, where he was responsible for developing the architecture and engineering of the Group’s mobile and web digital platforms. Prior to Lloyds, he was a digital capability leader at KPMG. During a career which coincided with a revolution in banking technology, he has also held positions consulting and advising banks and other business on digital transformation and data analytics.

OneBanks successfully launched a pilot kiosk in the town of Denny, Scotland in December 2020, a town which has had no local bank branch for two years.

The format is equally suitable for personal and small business customers. Using the kiosk would be free to customers, the cost being borne by participating banks.
