In the 2010s everybody was somewhat aware of a high-tech little software company called Nvidia. It hovered around there in people’s consciousness around the likes of Salesforce or Adyen in the early days. Today everything has changed. The emergence of artificial intelligence in 2024 has escalated the firm’s importance. After years of growth can Nvidia keep innovating?

On Monday the 6th of January at 6.30pm Pacific Time Jensen Huang, Founder and CEO of Nvidia helped kick off CES2025 in Las Vegas. Owned and produced by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA)®, CES is the only trade show that showcases the entire landscape at one event.

In January last year Nvidia shares were trading at $50. Today the stock is trading at almost $150. Can Nvidia continue its growth curve into 2025 and beyond? Can it keep innovating?

TradingView shows analyst ratings and technical at a strong buy as of time of publishing. The leading financial platform has data showing a possible price target of $173 in 2025. But with 2024 earnings not due until the 19th February this week’s talk by Huang may go some way to helping understand what the future may hold for the leading tech firm and its stock price.

In July last year the DisruptionBanking editorial team took a deep dive into Nvidia. At the time we commented how “Nvidia has seen a 3000% increase in its value. These are numbers we are more used to seeing on crypto markets than on the Nasdaq.” The story also suggested that Nvidia stock could be over-priced.

Jensen Huang Unveils Innovations at Nvidia at CES

Nvidia’s announcements took place outside of trading hours. It hasn’t had a chance to affect Nvidia stock price yet. CEO and Founder Huang had plenty to say to delegates attending the bustling CES event in Las Vegas last night. Here are just a few of them.

“Can you imagine, you have this incredible graphics card, Blackwell, I’m going to shrink it and put it in there,” Huang said with a laptop in his hand.

The centerpiece of the new RTX Blackwell family of GPUs is the RTX 2090. This is a card that now sports 92 billion transistors, amongst other innovations. The new GPU can outperform the old one by as much as two times. These laptops will start to go on sale from March.

“[Project Digits] runs the entire Nvidia AI stack – all of Nvidia software runs on this,” Huang said at the CES event. “It’s a cloud computing platform that sits on your desk… It’s even a workstation, if you like it to be.”

Nvidia claims a single Project Digits unit can run models up to 200 billion parameters in size. Parameters roughly correspond to a model’s problem-solving skills, and models with more parameters generally perform better than those with fewer parameters.

“With Project Digits, the Grace Blackwell Superchip comes to millions of developers,” Huang said in a statement. “Placing an AI supercomputer on the desks of every data scientist, AI researcher and student empowers them to engage and shape the age of AI.”

There was also mention of a new project with Toyota. Toyota announced at CES 2025 that its next-generation vehicles will have automated driving capabilities powered by Nvidia’s Drive AGX Orin supercomputer and safety-focused operating system, DriveOS.

The Future of AI

During the talk, Huang presented a few of the biggest trends and projects at Nvidia.

He spoke about ‘Agentic AI’ which he sees as the next wave of generation AI. “The IT Department is going to be the HR Department of the company’s AI Agents in the future,” Huang explained.

He also announced a whole new family of models. These models have been fine tuned for the purposes of enterprise. Huang pointed to how there were thirty million software developers in the world. However, with AI the one billion ‘knowledge workers’ in the world would also be able to code.

Huang shared with delegates how the value of the agentic AI market could be a multi trillion dollar opportunity.

The thing that Nvidia wants to do the most, according to Huang, is to put AI into your laptop. Windows 11 has provided mainstream support for the NVIDIA GPU driver in WSL2. This is just one of the steps taken so far. A step to make your home entertainment system or laptop or both have the best chance of making the most of AI.

Then Huang announced another revolutionary project.  NVIDIA Cosmos™ is a platform comprising state-of-the-art generative world foundation models, advanced tokenizers, guardrails and an accelerated video processing pipeline built to advance the development of physical AI systems such as autonomous vehicles (AVs) and robots.

“AI was created in the cloud, for the cloud,” Huang shared. As the talk went on, he explained how AI is coming home to a PC near you. Not just the cloud. And if Nvidia has anything to do with it. AI has a very big future.
